When you make a donation through United Way of Mason County 98.5% of every $1.00 that you contribute will stay right here in our community. Your United Way is about focusing on the BIG PICTURE and working to tackle the source of Mason County’s toughest challenges – not just the symptoms. For many years, we have just focused on Band-Aid solutions and it’s not working – we need to find new solutions to old problems and it takes all of us working together. That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED!
Your gift is treated with care by our community investment volunteers. They spend many hours reviewing programs, analyzing budgets and determining the success of a program before making a decision on how much that program is awarded through our allocations process. Partner programs meet strict guidelines and must prove to volunteers exactly how they improve lives.
Giving is a personal decision. United Way will honor donor designations intended for health and human services nonprofit organizations that are located in Mason County or other United Way organizations. United Way receives a 9% administrative fee for processing donor designations to non-profit organizations (an administrative fee is not charged when designating to another United Way organization.) In addition, we deduct 5% to cover the cost of uncollected pledges. We ask that your designations be made in increments of $30 or more.
Following is the criteria that organizations must meet for United Way of Mason County to process their designation:
Legal Entity within the guidelines of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
Non-Profit organization located in Mason County or another United Way organization
Primary mission must focus on health and human services
Compliance with the U.S. Patriot Act
